The NV4500 is the ultimate manual transmission for your Jeep. It is heavy duty, has a low first gear, and it has an overdrive. It is fairly common and there are adapters available for it for a wide variety of applications.

This transmission should hold up extremely well in a lightweight Scrambler with a small block V8. Unlike the T4's all aluminum case, the NV4500 is made of cast iron, tipping the scales at 200lbs.

Over the years, Jeeps have come from the factory with some great transmissions and some terrible transmissions. In some cases a different transmission can be the best upgrade to your Jeep as far as performance and reliability.
